![]() Last night featured four great bands playing four very different styles of music. Amidst the locally brewed beer, smouldering vacuum-tubes, faulty stage equipment, and various inexplicable astrological influences, it was the progressive folk-rock eclecticos of The Mailman's Children and the big brass skankin' of Ten Too Many that saw their way to the next round. Congratulations to two excellent bands!! Where does this leave Mr. Pinto & Co.? Always in pursuit of bigger and better things, they will be demo'ing some new material in both Dylan's and Neal's home studios as well as making appearances at venues around town in various shapes and forms. They may also still be in the running as a wildcard for the 4th round of RA NRG. In other news, Neal will be performing a short solo-electric set tonight at Academy Coffee Co. (414 Academy Rd.) in Winnipeg as part of the Manitoba Independent Songwriters' Circle (MISC). Brent, Dylan & Joe return to one of their more well-known projects on October 8th as they (along with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra) accompany BMG recording artists McMaster & James for their performance in front of Queen Elizabeth II at the Manitoba Legislative Building in Winnipeg. Neal will probably be watching this all from home on one of the 74 international TV networks that are supposed to be airing it.
